The EFRTC General Assembly took place
in London on the 8th June 2007 hosted by the RIA, the Railway Industry
Association. This Assembly marked the tenth anniversary the Federation
founding in Germany in 1997. The Federation actively promotes the liberalisation
and internationalisation of the European trackwork market, disseminates
good practices, etc.
The work developed by the working groups is proceeding
and EFRTC together with the European Infrastructure Managers have developed
the project RIMARE standing for Railway Infrastructure Maintenance and
Renewal Efficiency which is now part of INNOTRACK research project.
The Common WG EIM/EFRTC concerning harmonisation of procurement procedure
is progressing and according to the elaborated planning it should end
in December 2009. The participation of EFRTC to the technical committee
TC 256/SC1 of the CEN has permitted to elaborate new standards in relation
with our activity and to be informed about all the standards in which
we are involved.
In this General Assembly, after four years, Mr. Jeremy
Candfield stood down as President of EFRTC to be succeeded by Mr. Jorge
Miarnau Monserrat of the Contractor COMSA S.A. of Spain.
The Secretary
General, Mr. Rolando Naggar terminates also his mandate that he undertook
eight years ago and the General Assembly nominates Mr. Imrich Korpanec
as new Secretary General. Mr Korpanec is currently the Deputy Director
of the Technology and Research Department of the UIC.

The next EFRTC General Assembly will be held in Barcelona, Spain on
the 30th November 2007.
